Osama bin Laden dead
Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea. Islamic practice and tradition calls for the body to be buried within 24 hours. A small team of U.S. Navy Seals killed bin Laden Sunday in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in a suburb about 35 miles north of Islamabad, in a helicopter assault on the massive, heavily secured compound where he had been hiding. The U.S. team took custody of bin Laden's body and confirmed his identity
Mariah Carey Gives Birth To Twins
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their third anniversary by becoming parents to a baby girl and boy.Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, confirmed the news via Twitter today. Carey delivered the babies Saturday at 12:07 p.m. EST at an undisclosed hospital in Los Angeles. The baby girl was born first, weighing 5 lbs., 3 oz., and was 18 inches long; her brother was next, at 5 lbs. 6 oz., and was 19 inches.
Trinidad and Tobago Giving New Regional Airline A Fight
The region’s new low-cost carrier, REDJet, may not encounter as many obstacles to fly to Jamaica as it is currently facing in Trinidad and Tobago. The airline was told last week that it should stop advertising for flights to Trinidad and Tobago until it got approval. REDJet is scheduled to begin its initial flights on May 8, offering base fares from US$9.99 one-way, excluding applicable taxes and other charges, between Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana and Barbados. REDjet (Airone Caribbean/Airone Ventures Limited) is a startup LCC based at the Grantley Adams International Airport in Christ Church, Barbados. It appears that some of the employees at Flavor Flav’s Chicken restaurant are a bit upset with him. According to the employees, their payroll checks have bounced and they are owed at three weeks of back pay. One of the employees stated that the bank wouldn’t even cash her check, which was only $150. Flav, along with the co-owner of the restaurant, Nick Cimino opened this restaurant in Clinton, Iowa back in January 2011. Flav used his past experience in the restaurant industry and his culinary degree to develop the plan for the restaurant. Suspected Cutlass Attacker Set Free In Trinidad and Tobago
The man accused of chopping the English couple Peter and Murium Green was set free, more than 18 months after the horrific assault, without a trial in Trinidad and Tobago. The couple suffered a brutal cutlass attack at their Bacolet home on August 1, 2009. The bloody assault left them physically scarred and traumatised. Clint Alexis was arrested a few days after the incident, but even then there were signs that something was amiss with the case. In an unusual move, his Argyle neighbours protested outside the court, saying he had been at home with an injured leg when the attack took place.

Jamaicans Need A Visa To Visit St Maarten Now
Documents out of St Maarten issued Tuesday April 12, 2011, states that effective Monday, April 11, 2011, Guyanese and Jamaicans will have to obtain a visa before they are allowed to enter the country with a population of approximately 40,000 persons. Under the new regulations, Jamaicans going to St Maarten on business must show a confirmed copy of their hotel bookings and between US$100 and US$200 per day to cover their expenses. They must also show travel medical insurance of US$15,000. The Cayman Islands and the Dominican Republic are the other regional states which have imposed visa requirements for Jamaicans.
Volcom Sues Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Over Diamond Logo
Jay-Z will be battling clothing giant Volcom, as Volcom has filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label due to infringement based upon usage of their logo. The diamond stone used in Roc Nation ads looks very much alike to Volcom’s logo, which has been trademarked since 1991. Two Bajan Cops Charged With Raping Jamaican Woman
Two members of the Royal Barbados Police Force, who are accused of rape and sexual assault of a 27-year-old Jamaican woman, have been formally charged. Constables Jonathan Barrow, 32, and constable Melanie Denny, 25. Barrow is charged with serious indecency while Denny is accused of aiding and abetting Barrow to commit an act of serious indecency on the woman. Both were charged on Thursday April 07, 2011 and appeared in District A Magistrate’s Court on Friday April 08, 2011. They are expected to reappear in court on September 1. Both were granted bail in the sum of B$5,000.
The Harder They Come Movie Getting A Remake
The movie The Harder They Come may be getting a remake. The 1972 film, which starred singer Jimmy Cliff, is credited with helping to introduce the world to reggae. The film came out around the same time that Bob Marley was also bringing reggae to the international arena. Filming on the new The Harder They Come is scheduled to start later this year in Jamaica and England; the cast is still being finalized.
Bob Andy Hospitalized In Jamaica
After collapsing at home last Friday and being rushed to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) in St Andrew, rocksteady and Reggae pioneer, Bob Andy is said to be resting well. The 66-year old artiste, whose real name is Keith Anderson, is reported to have suffered from a bleeding stomach ulcer. Jamaican Pleads Guilty In U.S. Ponzi scheme
A Jamaican man admitted in U.S. federal court on Tuesday to swindling thousands of Florida and Caribbean island investors out of more than $220 million. David Smith, 41, pleaded guilty in Orlando, Florida, to multiple counts of wire fraud and money laundering. He laundered approximately $128 million to conceal the wire fraud. He could face decades in prison for defrauding more than 6,000 investors during his three-year Ponzi scheme, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. No sentencing date has been set. Last year, Smith was sentenced to more than six years in prison in Turks and Caicos on related fraud and conspiracy charges

Snoop Dogg Gives Back To The Youths Of Chicago
Rapper Snoop Dogg has decided to expand his Snoop Youth Football League to the city of Chicago. For the 2011 football season, he is planning to start at least eight chapters, which will cover different parts of the city. Chicago is the first city on the list for the expansion of the league. The first four chapters will be the Chicago Chargers, the Jets, the Southside Seahawks, and the Raiders. Each chapter will have six different divisions for football and cheerleading.
