Jamaicans Among Boatload Of Immigrants
Authorities Wednesday identified two men accused of taking part in a failed smuggling operation that ended with a massive search for migrants at Haulover Beach. Janoy Garcia-Prieto, 22, and Renier Perez-Hernandez, 24, both of Miami, face alien-smuggling charges. Both appeared before a federal judge in Miami on Wednesday. The group came ashore Monday night near Haulover Beach after ramming a U.S. Coast Guard boat, then running aground, according to federal authorities. Moments later, people began jumping off the boat and onto the beach. Authorities found about 15 people from the boat. They included a 16-year old Haitian female, two Haitian adult women, one Haitian man, two Jamaican women, five Jamaican men and four...
Bounty Killer Bail Denied!
Bounty Killer will have to spend another two nights in jail after being remanded again to prison on Wednesday. Bounty Killer was remanded into custody by Resident Magistrate Georgiana Fraser, again, during his appearance in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court Wednesday morning.Bounty will now have to wait until today Friday April 16th, to find out if he will be granted bail. He is accused of assaulting his girlfriend after she told him their three-year relationship was over, and of threatening her life over the telephone in the presence of police officers.
Ninjaman after One Year  and still no bail
Its been well over a year since veteran dancehall deejay, Ninjaman, was arrested and charged with murder, conspiracy to murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm. He appeared in court earlier this week, along with his son Janeil and two other men who are jointly charged, but no application was made for bail by his attorney (numerous previous bail attempts were denied). According to reports, Ninjaman appeared in Court with face looking bushy and his hair unkempt. The case is set to continue on April 23.

Buju Banton's Trial Delayed Once Again.
In a court order released Thursday April 08 2010, the U.S. District Court in the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division decided that the trial will now get underway on Monday, June 21. Buju's lawyers immediately demanded a status conference to discuss the trial date, as they believe that any further delay of the trial date would only put their client at a disadvantage. Attorney David Markus, who is representing Buju Banton, said that the defense team had already laid the legal groundwork and preparation in anticipation of an earlier trial date. Now, Banton's legal claims says they'll go so far as to appeal for the transfer of the case to an entirely different judge, in the hopes of moving the trial date up.
Mavado Involved In A Bike Accident.
David "Mavado" Brooks was involved in a Bike accident on Sunday evening, in the Manor park area of Kingston. ReggaeMe understands that Mavado was travelling on his motorcycle with a group of riders at approximately 5:00pm on sunday when a female driver decided to turn into her driveway, cutting across his lane in which he was riding. Mavado was immediately taken to the Medical Associates Hospital in Kingston where he underwent treatment for some minor cuts and bruises. Doctors also did several X-rays inwhich thankfully all came back as showing that mavado was ok.
62 Haitian migrants who fled to Jamaica sent back.
Jamaica (AP) — Jamaica has repatriated 62 Haitian migrants, including three men authorities say escaped from prison after January's devastating earthquake. Police Inspector Steve Brown said Tuesday the group left for the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince aboard a Jamaican Defense Force boat. Authorities did not say what crimes the men had allegedly committed. The group of 48 men, eight women and six children arrived in two overloaded boats last week. They were towed ashore by local fishermen. Three of the migrants had been hospitalized with dehydration and high fever. Jamaican officials said they could not afford to let them stay.

Rodney "Bounty Killer" Pryce made headlines for his recurrent troubles with the law has been arrested by St Andrew North Police at his East Avenue home. Rodney Price already is being prosecuted on previous charges of illegal possession of a firearm, marijuana possession, and unlawful wounding and assault. Police say Bounty Killer physically abused his female companion after she decided to end their three year relationship. A report was made to the police and following investigations a warrant was issued for his arrest. Jamaica man accused of raping, burying teen alive.
Jamaica (AP) A taxi driver has been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl and then burying her alive after he thought he had strangled her to death, authorities said Wednesday. Garsha Wilson faces charges including rape, abduction, attempted murder and cruelty to a child, Deputy Police Superintendent Herfa Beckford said. Wilson abducted the girl last month at a bus station in the capital, Kingston, then took her to a house in nearby St. Andrew parish where he raped her and choked her until she was unconscious, Beckford said. Thinking she was dead, he buried her in a shallow grave and covered it with rocks, Beckford said. The girl, who reported the alleged crime, told police she regained consciousness and dug herself...
A First for Jamaica: 100 March for Gay Tolerance.
On April 7, religious and GLBT equality leaders sought to change that impression with a first time in the nation march for Gay tolerance. The march took place in Montego Bay and was led by International Movement of Metropolitan Community Churches bishop Nancy L. Wilson, who is openly lesbian. The march promoted tolerance not only of gays, but also of people living with HIV, AIDS patients, and others.
Jamaica Seeks Clarification On Extradition Treaty.
(AP) Jamaica's prime minister has asked local justice officials to review a U.S. request to extradite a man Washington says is one of the world's most dangerous drug kingpins. Prime Minister Bruce Golding said he believes the U.S. violated an extradition treaty, alleging its agents used illegal wiretaps in the arms- and drug-trafficking case against Christopher "Dudus" Coke. Golding said he has instructed the attorney general and justice minister to obtain a declaration from the courts on whether the treaty was violated before he signs off on the extradition order. AIR Jamaica could be forced to shut down prematurely, leaving a major gap in air seats to the island, if the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) turns down an urgent request the national airline was making. On March 24, the airline wrote to the DOT asking for permission to continue to operate on the terms of its existing authority during the six-to-12-month transition period expected under the divestment agreement with Caribbean Airlines Limited (CAL), which is to take effect on April 12, 2010. Forty-one year old Reggae artist Lewin "Louie Culture" Brown has been shot and injured. The artist who resides in Windsor Forrest in Portland was shot in Priestman's River Portland, while at a tire shop. According to information from the Fraud Prevention Arm of the United States Embassy in Kingston, the visas of Bounty Killer, Mavado, Beenie Man, Adonia and selector Ricky Trooper are now being cancelled. An advisory was sent out to the airlines not to allow any of the entertainers on flights bound for the United States.
