Beenie Man Arrested and Charge With Assault.
Moses "Beenie man" Davis was arrested wednesday morning June 09, 2010 and charged with assault causing bodily harm when he went to the Hunts Bay Police Station. Beenie Man was charged after interview with Police detectives at the Hunts Bay Police Station. He was charged and given bail for $100,000. Beenie Man is accused of assaulting LA Lewis following the funeral of Voice Mail member O'Neil Edwards when LA Lewis reportedly ran into the back of Beenie Man’s audi Q 7. It is alleged that Beenie Man came out of his vehicle and physically punch LA Lewis in the mouth.
Nelson Mandela great-granddaughter killed in a car accident.
Former South African President Nelson Mandela 13-year-old great-granddaughter, Zenani Mandela, was killed in a car accident shortly after midnight on the way home from a concert to mark the start of the global sporting event in Soweto. Her driver was arrested on drunk-driving charges and could face culpable homicide charges. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton unveiled $124 million Caribbean Basin Security Initiative
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, in Barbados for a regional meeting of foreign ministers, unveiled the administration's $124 million Caribbean Basin Security Initiative on Thursday, intended to help countries counter the illegal narcotics and arms trade and help prosecute offenders. Caribbean islands had one of their bloodiest years on record in 2009 as they battled drug-fueled crime, with Jamaica, the Bahamas and Puerto Rico hitting or coming close to all-time highs for homicides. Clinton also expressed sympathy Thursday with Caribbean nations about the potential impact of the Gulf oil spill on their shores. Some scientists fear the spill could affect the Bahamas and Jamaica.

Chris Brown denied entry into UK.
Chris Brown has been forced to cancel his UK tour after being denied permission to enter England. The singer was refused a visa on the grounds of being found guilty of a serious criminal offence after assaulting his ex-girlfriend singer Rihanna in February 2009. He is currently serving a five-year probationary sentence after carrying out a community service order. Brown was due to play four dates, kicking off at Glasgow Academy wednesday June 9, 2010.

Buju Banton's drug trial in Florida has been delayed again.
Buju Banton is accused of being involved in a conspiracy to traffic more than five kilograms of cocaine. He had originally been scheduled to stand trial in Tampa on April 19. Days before trial was set to begin, U.S. District Judge James Moody rescheduled it for June 21. On Friday, Moody moved the case to the September trial calendar. A trial date will be set at a hearing in August. Banton's attorney filed an objection, saying the change violates the federal Speedy Trial Act. That generally requires trial to begin within 70 days after a defendant is charged or makes a first court appearance.

Australia Reggae singer Desire Sibanda jailed for 6 years over rape.
A jury found Desire "Dizzy Dee" Sibanda, 24, guilty of raping his friend's girlfriend as she lay sleeping after a night of heavy drinking in a Melbourne Australia flat in November 2008. She awoke to find him raping her. The court heard Sibanda was thought of as one of the most talented reggae singers in Australia, but will now miss many musical opportunities through incarceration. He will serve a non-parole period of three-and-a-half years.
Marvin Isley Dies at 56.
Marvin Isley, a bassist who provided the foundation for his family’s hit-making R&B band, the Isley Brothers, died on Sunday at a hospice near his home in Chicago. He was 56. Marvin Isley had fought diabetes for more than 20 years and in 1997 lost his legs to the disease. Marvin Isley was born in Cincinnati on Aug. 18, 1953, the youngest son of O’Kelly and Sally Isley. Besides his brothers Ernie, Ronald and Rudolph, he is survived by his wife, the former Sheila Felton; a son, Corey; and two daughters, Sidney and Jalen.

Jamaica Seeks $1 Billion to Rid Island of Guns and Crime
Minister Audley Shaw said. Voicemail member, O'Neil Edwards, will be laid to rest on Saturday.The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am at the Church on the Rock, Clifton Avenue, Kingston 8 and the body will be layed to rest at Meadowrest. O'Neil, a much-loved figure in entertainment circles, died last week Wednesday at the Kingston Public Hospital, after being admitted there following a shooting incident in which he was attacked at his gate on the morning of May 10.

Usain Bolt has withdrawn from the June 12 Diamond League meeting in New York City because of an Achilles tendon issue, organizers said Monday. Organizers of the meeting said they were notified by Bolt's management team that the world and Olympic triple gold medallist has inflammation in the affected tendon and has been advised to rest. The meeting, the fifth in the 14-event elite Diamond League series, is held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, where Bolt first broke the 100m record in May of 2008.
Temptations singer Ali-Ollie Woodson dies at 58
Ali Ollie Woodson, who led the Motown quintet the Temptations in the 1980s and ’90s and helped restore it to hit-making glory with songs like “Treat Her Like a Lady,” died on Sunday in Los Angeles. He was 58. Mr. Woodson was not an original member of the group, which had several lineup changes since it started in the 1960s. Woodson died Sunday in Los Angeles California after battling cancer.
Israeli commandos intercepted and attacked Gaza bound aid ships
Turkey withdrew its ambassador to Israel and canceled three joint military drills on Monday after Israeli commandos killed at least 10 people and wounded dozens aboard a Palestinian aid convoy unofficially sponsored by Turkey. The convoy of six ships was led by a Turkish vessel with 600 people on board and set sail for Gaza from international waters off Cyprus on Sunday in defiance of an Israeli-led blockade of the territory. Commandos boarded the ships in international waters overnight, backed up by warships and helicopters.
