Hostages escape downtown drama
Two gunmen are now holed up inside a fast-food restaurant at the intersection of West and Beckford streets in Downtown Kingston. reporter on the scene said the incident started about 6:00 pm. Police say that two armed robbers ˜ barged though a side door of the restaurant moments before closing time and robbed three female staff members in the restaurant, the robbers then proceeded to asked for the supervisor. The three staff members ran to a bathroom in the restaurant where they locked themselves in. The three female hostages then somehow managed to escape from the building. Andrew "Flippa Maffia" Davis, was arrested earlier this year after he was allegedly caught trying to enter the United States illegally from the Bahamas in March. The deejay was arrested on March 16, 2010 at the time knew he had no current legal immigration status in the U.S. After being arrested, Flippa was being held as a prosecution witness against Julio Santiesteban and Armando Amat, who were charged with encouraging and inducing an alien to enter or reside in the United States. Steel Pulse works to bring solar power to Haiti
Steel Pulse has released a new song, "Hold On (4 Haiti)", recorded specifically to raise funds for adding solar power to health clinics of Partners in Health in Haiti. The clinics, operated by Zanmi Lasante, are in the remote mountain villages of Haiti and can't easily get power. After the recent earthquakes that devestated the country, the clinics have experienced and explosion in the number of clients coming in, but their fuel supplies run dangerously low too often. Gunmen in Jamaica killed eight people
Gunmen in Jamaica killed eight people early on Friday Morning. Police later shot dead two of the suspected killers following the early morning murders in St. Catherine County, west of the capital Kingston. A church was set ablaze in the violence on the island, which has one of the highest per capita murder rates in the world. In the first attack, the gunmen killed a mother and her daughters aged 24 and 11 and a son aged 16 after kicking down the door of their home.
